BRINGING A SHARED NORDIC & CELTIC HERITAGE AND HISTORY TO LIFE THROUGH MUSIC AND STORYTELLING
For educators, cultural institutions and music conferences, my concert lectures and workshops offer an alternative, interdisciplinary way of engaging learners, audiences and communities. By blending scholarship with folk traditions and lived experience, I make history and intercultural connections accessible, memorable, and relevant to contemporary audiences.
FOR THE MUSEUM, that is looking to activate their exhibitions through multisensory experience.
In my Concert Lectures I bring the cultural and historical connections between the Nordic and the Celtic worlds to life through immersive storytelling, folk music and original compositions rooted in ancient soundscapes. Transforming historical narratives into living performances.
Turning history into something people don’t just learn about, but feel.
FOR THE FOLK MUSIC CONFERENCE OR FESTIVAL, these concepts offer a deeper dive into the root of our folk music traditions, or a fun interactive way for the audience to connect with them by participating in the music themselves. Activating an ancient collective memory through embodied experience.
FOR UNIVERSITIES AND OTHER LEARNING INSTITUTIONS, the concert lectures/workshop complement traditional curricula by engaging students through sound, narrative, and lived experience—making complex histories more accessible, memorable, and relevant.
Firstly, demonstrating different ways of practical application and activation of knowledge, focusing on creating audience interactive concepts.
Secondly, sparking an interest in working with ancient instruments as an artistic and creative tool for music making and living history.
Whether you’re aiming to deepen audience engagement, attract new visitors, or introduce alternative, interdisciplinary teaching methods, our work bridges education and creativity to create meaningful cultural impact.
Because stories are remembered longer when they’re heard—and felt.
CONCERT LECTURE & WORKSHOP
A SHARED SOUNDSCAPE FROM OF AN ANCIENT CELTIC WORLD: Where Celtic and Nordic Music Meet (Concert Lecture)

Which melodies once flowed through the landscapes when the Celts inhabited Europe? And how have these ancient tonalities inspired the landscape of both Nordic and Celtic folk today? Step into music history as Christine Kammerer from the historical band Jotunger invites you on a sensory journey through the Celtic musical heritage. As a specialist in historical music and ancient instruments, Kammerer offers insight into the ancient roots of Celtic music and culture. Using her voice and lyre to bringing it to life within a soundscape where Nordic and Celtic Music meet. In the process articulating the deep connections between Nordic and Celtic Music, rooted Europe’s oldest musical traditions.
OBS! This one can also include a small element of audience interaction.
SCANDINAVIA MEETS SCOTLAND: A Viking’s Journey to Scotland Told Through Music (Music Workshop)

In this workshop, Viking music specialist Christine Kammerer opens the door to the early encounters between Scotland and Scandinavia at the end of the 8th century — through music.
When the first Vikings arrived in Scotland, how did Scandinavian traditions, rituals, and ways of life intertwine with those of the Picts, Gaels, and Celts? And how might this encounter have been expressed through music?
This workshop takes participants on a journey from Scandinavia to Scotland through storytelling, cultural history, music, and mythology. Participants are invited to become part of the journey with their own voice and body — exploring shared tonalities, functional music, and some of the oldest folk songs, and experiencing just how closely connected these two northern regions truly are.
